Last year, Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider hit cinemas on October 2 and went on to become a hit, apart from receiving critical acclaim. This, despite clashing with another big-budget film, Bang Bang. This year, Vishal Bhardwaj Productions’ Talvar too released on October 2 and went on to be appreciated both by critics and audiences, and is doing brisk business at the box office inspite of releasing alongside a big commercial film, Singh Is Bliing.
It seems Gandhi Jayanti, which falls on October 2, has turned out to be Bhardwaj’s lucky date and the director exclusively announced to Box Office India that he will release Rangoon on October 2, 2016. Rangoon features Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut, and goes on the floors next month in Arunachal Pradesh.
